When you study the specifications of a product, you may sometimes come across some words that indicate its production status. We check out some of these words as below:
- Phased out Product / Spare part
Phase out is a gradual cessation of production. When a manufacturer wants to stop producing a particular product, they announce the plan in advance. Phase out process allows the customer to have enough time to replace or upgrade it. In this process, a limited number of those products are produced to provide services to buyers in the past and are called phased-out product or phased out spare part. This quantity is determined based on feedback received from customers and possible requirements.
- Obsolete / Outdated / Discontinued product
When a manufacturer completely stop producing and supporting a product, it is called an obsolete or discontinued product which means it’s out of date or no longer can be in use.
