309: How to respond to an aggressive and rude manager?!

When you are neither a psychologist nor a work consultant, you should not comment on this matter! But you can help yourself and others make the right decision by examining different scenarios! To find a solution for a problem, the first step is to correctly identify the problem!

You may ask yourself the following questions:

  • Why aggression? Wasn't there a logical and friendly solution?! Can I improve relations in the future through dialogue and negotiation?!
  • Even if the employee has done something wrong, can a manager be aggressive?!
  • Where is the dividing line between serious behaviour and aggressive behaviour?
  • Was this aggression limited, or did it happen several times?
  • Should the employee also react similarly?
  • What will the consequences of mutual aggression be?
  • Is it reasonable to continue working under such conditions?
  • Is it better for the employees to change jobs (if possible)?
  • Is silence the right solution?
  • Is ignoring always the best option?
  • Can using body language be a good option?
  • Can you change your manager?! Or at least change his behaviour towards you in the long run?
  • Is your manager a permanent manager, or is it possible to replace him or her with someone else in the next few months?
  • Do you have the possibility to work remotely (home office) or reduce the working time directly with your manager?
  • Can you wait longer and try to improve your relationship with proactive and creative work?
