PT (Potential transformer) also called VT (Voltage transformer) is a transformer which used in parallel with high voltage circuits to provide a lower level of voltage for measuring devices.
PT types:
- Electromagnetic
- Capacitor
- Optical
For voltage above 240 V using the PT is necessary. Normally PTs used for high voltages.
PT parameters:
- V1 (Primary voltage): It must be more than 110% of power system voltage.
- V2 (Secondary voltage): According to rated voltage of the devices connected to the secondary part of the transformer.
- Burden: 125% to 150% of total power of the devices connected to the secondary part of the transformer.
- Accuracy: According to IEC or IEEE
- Outdoor/Indoor: According to requirement.
- Single or Three Phase
