The set of equipment which check for entry to a protected area is called an access control system and controls who and when is allowed to enter or leave the location.
Application: home, apartment, office, hotel, factory etc.
System Components:
- Access control panel (controller) - as the main brain of the system
- Reader
- Identifier (access card, key fob, badge, PIN, password, pass-phrase, biometric (finger print, iris), etc.)
- Locking device (electric door strikes, electromagnetic locks)
- Request to exit (push to exit button, motion detector)
- Magnetic door switch (Monitoring of the door's status)
- Power supply
