Fire door or to be more accurate fire-rated or fire-resistant door is made of heat and flame resistant material to prevent or delay the spread of fire and smoke between different rooms in the building and last against passage of fire for a specified time period. During the fire, heat and fire products such as smoke are transmitted to adjacent spaces in various ways such as conduction, convection and radiation and causes the fire to spread and especially respiratory problems for residents. Fire resistant doors can increase the golden time for escape and controlling the fire. Fire door must be equipped with closing mechanism and installed without any gap around the frame.
- Material: depend on the manufacturers from steel, aluminium, timber, plywood, MDF (medium density fiber-board), gypsum, composite core, fire-glass, obscure fire glass, wire mesh glass, ceramic glass and borosilicate glass and so on.
- All parts of the fire doors must be fire rated (e.g. frame, hinges, locks, latches, closer, seals, glazing, etc.)
- Specified time: 20 to 240 minutes.
