Types of municipalities:

Rural community (Landgemeinde)
Market community (Marktgemeinde)
Municipality (Stadtgemeinde)
Statutory city or free city (Statutarstadt or Freistadt): City with its own statute (law & regulation)

Type of residential area (Ortschaften):
